Going to the Park

Kids just love playing outside!! Going to the park is a fun activity to do your Speech Therapy on the Go. Here are some ideas:
Instructions/Listening: directions for playing in the park can vary from simple to more complicated. Simple instructions can be " throw ball to daddy" or "give the ball to mommy." More complex instructions may be " give mom the ball before you fetch the bat."
Language: The Past Tense: If your child has mastered the regular past tense such as jumped; walked, use opportunities to model the irregular past tense, for example threw the ball; caught the ball; took the ball; ran around the park; ate a cookie etc.

Speech Therapy to Go

Although I seriously vow to live on an island with no cars (especially when I am stuck in traffic!!!), I am distinctly aware of how much we rely on cars, buses and sky trains to get around. We spend so much time commuting as part of our lives that I have often heard couples say that this is their time to catch up and connect. I remember my partner saying that this was a great time for him to catch up and chat with his son. So in keeping with the theme of Speech Therapy on the go, it would seem obvious that the car/bus is the perfect place to practice/ develop various speech, language and listening skills.

SPEECH THERAPY To GO

Like many of us, I am a "doer." I love getting things done. Years ago I took a coaching course. They spoke about "being" and "doing." Of course I was great with the doing part of things, but being was a different story. However what they suggested in this course changed my Life. They alluded to a beingness in our doing. In other words we just have to find a way of being happy and content as we do what needs to be done in life. No separation is necessary.
